On the Hunt for Joy Challenge: Week 23
So Cee wanted us to put something cute on our desk that raises a smile. If you are not British you might not recognise this pink and white striped cat, but Bagpuss was a formative part of my younger years, and continues to be a firm favourite.
Bagpuss, dear Bagpuss
Old Fat Furry Catpuss
Wake up and look at this thing that I bring
Wake up, be bright, be golden and light
Bagpuss, oh hear what I sing
Lost objects found and mended, a story, folk music, and delightful characters including the mice from the ‘amazing mechanical mouse organ’, it was a delightful children’s programme.
A quick look around my office reveals that I have a least five small Bagpusses (Bagpi?) lurking, the larger ones are in another room. Apologies that this one looks a little sad at the moment!
Meanwhile, normally hanging around my desk is this cuddly elephant. I adore elephants, they are such amazing creatures, I have a fair few of them in this room too (I’ve just spotted 10, but this is the largest). He/She is sitting on my collection of graphic novels & comics featuring the Trojan myth cycle.I have been doing some research on these in the past couple of years (primarily on Helen of Troy), and have an article in a book coming out hopefully by the end of this year/early next year.
